Food-Grade Rotary Lobe Pump


Regarding the customer's inquiry about a food-grade rotary lobe pump (rotary pump) for conveying thick pastes and sauces, based 

on the provided parameters (viscosity 2000-3000 mPa·s, flow rate 20 m³/h, 5kW-3 phase-440V-50Hz, inlet/outlet 2 inches), the following

 analysis is conducted from three dimensions: technical compatibility, selection rationality, and industry application experience, and

 optimization suggestions are provided:


I. Technical Compatibility Analysis

Viscosity Handling Capacity

Roller lobe pumps (rotary lobe pumps) are ideal for conveying high-viscosity media. Their pulsation-free conveying principle avoids

media require higher torque, and a 7.5kW motor ensures stable operation; a reducer drive can reduce the speed (e.g., from 1450 rpm 

to 500-800 rpm), reducing shear force and protecting media components (such as particles or fibers in sauces).

Material and Hygiene Standards: The SS304 pump head meets food-grade requirements (e.g., FDA, 3A certification), with a surface 

finish ≤0.8μm, meeting CIP/SIP cleaning needs and preventing bacterial growth.


Mechanical seal type (e.g., double-end face seal) prevents leakage and ensures hygiene and safety.


Structural Advantages: The cam rotor design (e.g., a three-lobe rotor) creates a continuous sealed volume, providing pulsation-free 

delivery, suitable for sauces containing particles (e.g., chili sauce, ketchup).


The rotor-pump body clearance is adjustable (e.g., through elastomer compensation technology) to accommodate different viscosities,

 preventing leakage caused by clearance expansion under high pressure.

reduces energy consumption (flow regulation is achieved through frequency conversion control, avoiding frequent start-stop cycles).
