Portable clamp-on flowmeter types:
Portable clamp-on flowmeters are mainly based on different measurement principles and technologies to achieve flow measurement.
Common types include the following:
Ultrasonic portable clamp-on flowmeter:
This is one of the most common and widely used portable clamp-on flow meters. It measures the fluid velocity by the propagation time
difference of ultrasonic waves in the fluid (time difference method), Doppler effect or cross-correlation technology, and then calculates
the flow rate. Ultrasonic flowmeters do not need to drill holes in the pipe, are easy to install, and do not damage the pipe. They are very
suitable for temporary measurements or occasions where it is difficult to access the pipe.

Thermal portable clamp-on flowmeter:
Thermal flowmeters calculate flow by measuring the cooling effect of the fluid on the heating element. Although thermal flowmeters may
not be as common as ultrasonic flowmeters in portable clamp-on flowmeters, they may have advantages in certain specific applications
(such as low-flow gas measurement).
Laser portable clamp-on flowmeter:
Laser flowmeters use the interaction of laser beams with particles in the fluid to measure flow velocity and then calculate flow. This technology
may be more suitable in some high-precision or special applications, but its application may be more limited compared to ultrasonic flowmeters.
Electromagnetic portable clamp-on flowmeter (less common, but theoretically portable):
Electromagnetic flowmeters are commonly used for flow measurement of conductive liquids. Although traditional electromagnetic flowmeters
are fixedly installed, they can theoretically be made into portable versions through special designs for flow measurement in specific occasions.
However, in practical applications, portable electromagnetic flowmeters may not be common.
Differential pressure portable clamp-on flowmeter (less common):
This type of flowmeter calculates flow by measuring the pressure difference generated by the fluid in the pipeline. Although differential
pressure flowmeters are widely used in industry, portable clamp-on versions of differential pressure flowmeters may be relatively rare because
their installation and maintenance are relatively complicated.
Vortex portable clamp-on flowmeter (less common, but theoretically portable):
Vortex flowmeters calculate flow by measuring the vortex frequency generated by the fluid after the vortex generator. Although vortex
flow meters are widely used in the industrial field, portable clamp-on vortex flowmeters may not be common because the installation and
calibration of vortex generators require certain accuracy and stability.
It should be noted that with the development of technology and changes in the market, new types of portable clamp-on flowmeters may
continue to emerge. Therefore, when choosing a portable clamp-on flowmeter, it is recommended to consider factors such as specific
application requirements, measurement media, measurement accuracy requirements, and budget. At the same time, you can also consult
a professional flowmeter supplier or manufacturer for more detailed information and suggestions.
