Chemical metering pump categories
Chemical metering pumps are key equipment for accurate metering and delivery of fluids in the chemical industry. According to different
working principles, structures and application scenarios, chemical metering pumps can be divided into many types. The following are some
common types of chemical metering pumps:
1. Classification by working principle
Plunger metering pump
Working principle: The motor drives the crank-connecting rod mechanism to make the plunger reciprocate in the pump cylinder to achieve
the suction and discharge of liquids.
Features: High metering accuracy, but there may be some leakage when using packing seals, suitable for industries such as petroleum and
beverages.
Diaphragm metering pump
Working principle: The reciprocating motion of the flexible diaphragm is used to achieve the suction and discharge of liquids. The diaphragm
isolates the metering fluid from the driving mechanism to ensure no leakage.
Features: Good sealing, strong corrosion resistance, widely used in various acid and alkali liquids and water treatment industries.
Piston metering pump
Similar to the plunger type, but the structure is different. The reciprocating motion of the piston is also used to achieve liquid metering and
delivery.
Gear metering pump
Uses the rotational motion of one or more pairs of meshing gears to push the liquid, suitable for high-viscosity liquids and high-pressure
applications.
Screw metering pump
Pushes the liquid from the inlet to the outlet through the rotational motion of the screw, suitable for high-viscosity liquids and high-pressure
applications, and has a high flow capacity.
2. Classification by drive mode
Motor-driven metering pump
Most plunger and diaphragm metering pumps use motors as power sources.
Electromagnetic-driven metering pump (electromagnetic diaphragm pump)
Uses electromagnetic force as the original power to drive the diaphragm to reciprocate to achieve liquid metering and transportation. It is
convenient, simple and practical, and is widely used in chemical, petroleum, metallurgy and mining industries.
Pneumatic-driven metering pump
Uses compressed air or other gases as the power source to push the piston or diaphragm to move.
3. Other special types
Hydraulic diaphragm pump
The pressure difference generated by the liquid is used to provide power for the hydraulic diaphragm pump. It is characterized by no leakage
and is suitable for occasions with extremely high requirements for sealing.
Self-priming metering pump
It has a self-priming function and can automatically suck in liquid without external drainage. It is suitable for occasions that require
self-priming ability.
Magnetic metering pump
It uses magnetic coupling technology to achieve leak-free fluid transmission. It is particularly suitable for the transportation of corrosive,
toxic or flammable and explosive liquids with extremely high sealing requirements.
When choosing a chemical metering pump, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as the properties of the fluid (such as
viscosity, corrosiveness, temperature, etc.), flow requirements, pressure requirements, and working environment. Different types of metering
pumps have different advantages and disadvantages and applicable scopes, so they need to be selected according to specific needs.
